Every Expense Must Come from the Appropriate Account
Do not borrow money from one account to cover expenses from another. The need to do so is a financial warning sign, not a solution. Each account has its own purpose; violating that purpose breaks the system.
Rule # 5
Every Expense Has Only One Valid Account
Before spending, ask yourself: Which account does this belong to? If there is not enough money in that account, the expense must wait or be canceled.
Rule # 6
Immediate and Automatic Allocation
As soon as income comes in, allocate it the same day. Many financial institutions allow scheduled automatic transfers. Automation eliminates temptation.
Rule # 7
Monthly Percentage Review
For example, if you have high debt, temporarily increase the percentage allocated to that account, reducing slightly the percentage assigned to a lower-priority account. Once the debt is paid off, reallocate that percentage to your Investment account.
📊 Recommended Allocation of Every Income Received:
Account # 1
💰 Savings 5 - 10%
🚨 "Savings without a purpose is idle money. A separate savings account is justified only if its sole purpose is to serve as an emergency fund, equivalent to 3 to 6 months of your essential living expenses."
